Do coffee-table travel and adventure books still have a place in our
restricted post-COVID world? That’s a question we take a look at today
on Outside In podcast as we talk to Alex Roddie, co-editor of the new
book Wanderlust Europe from German publisher gestalten.

Alex Roddie is an award-winning outdoor writer and photographer best
known for his work in The Great Outdoors magazine, where he writes about long-distance backpacking and mountaineering. He’s also a freelance
editor who specialises in helping outdoor and adventure writers hone
their manuscripts. In 2020 he has been working on two books: Wanderlust
Europe, recently published, and also The Farthest Shore (due to be
published by Vertebrate Publishing in 2021), about his 2019 winter Cape
Wrath Trail.

In our chat, Alex talks a bit about the writing process behind
Wanderlust Europe, some of his favourite long-distance trails, the
future of travel, and what it was like to leave the internet behind for
a month while hiking the Cape Wrath Trail.
